Growing up...
I grew up in Rochester. I went to Hamlin Elementary, Reuther Middle and Rochester High School. The education I gained was world class. As a student in Rochester I had opportunities to grow and learn in many ways.
My educational background...
After high school, I attended Michigan State University (Go green!) I earned a bachelors of arts in elementary education. MSU's education program has consistently been ranked #1 by US News and World Reports. While student teaching in Pontiac, I was nominated and won Michigan Student Teacher of the Year. I have a master's degree in elementary education from Saginaw Valley State University.
My interests and hobbies...
I have a lot of hobbies and interests! I like to think it helps me connect with students. I love gardening. My husband and I enjoy growing our own vegetables to pickle, preserve and sauce. I am an avid bird watcher and love the outdoors. We try to plant native plants to attract birds and we have an elaborate bird feeding operation. I love to create and research. I combine these two loves in knitting and travel. This past summer, we traveled to Europe. We visited France, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands. I most enjoyed visiting famous art museums. I am an avid reader. I love children's literature, professional books and your average best seller in the summer. Finally, I have two cats. We find they are great companions and provide a lot of laughs.
